KNX Smart home and Building Automation systems
Smartek Systems Ltd is a fully trained and certified partner for KNX smart home and building automation systems.
A KNX system allows your home or building to be simply wired with a single cost effective green cable to control your lights, security, heating, cooling, ventilation, blinds and more.
This can save on installation time, eliminate wall acne and reduce costs as the switches can have thermostats built in, and do not require separate wires for each system to be taken back to a control room / rooms.
A KNX installation we can easily to bring intelligence into the building, for example, we can automatically adjust the dimming level on the hallway to 20% after midnight, so you aren't blinded when answering a call of nature in the middle of the night! Or we can make sure the extractor fan doesn't come on with the bathroom light in the middle of the night and wake the house up.
The KNX system allows for changes to be made to the system without costly re-wires, for example, after the building is finished you realise you want to switch the front door light on from the top of the stairs but you only have a 2 way switch installed for upstairs / downstairs lights which would mean a lot of wall damage and re-cabling with a normal wired system to get the switch wires to the switch plates. With a KNX system we can just un-plug the 2 way switch, and plug in a 3 way switch that we have programmed up to address the front door light from the additional button. (no mess, wall chasing or re-decorating required!)
The KNX system is great for future support, as the components from one manufacturer are interchangeable with models from the thousands of other manufacturers that work on the agreed KNX standard. An example of how this can effect the customer is when heating control system move to a new system (which they did on a property that we had 25 thermostats fitted), and the thermostats start to fail. You end up having to take the whole system out and upgrade to the new version, whereas is a component goes wrong in a KNX system and the manufacturer doesn't sell it anymore, it will be able to be replaced with a similar unit from a different manufacturer without replacing the whole system.
